Antony Beevor
Sir Antony James Beevor (b. 1946) is a British military historian and writer, one of the best-known contemporary scholars of the Second World War.
His best-known works include “Stalingrad” (1998), “Berlin: The Downfall 1945” (2002), “D-Day: The Battle for Normandy” (2009), and “The Second World War” (2012).
In his research, particularly in “Berlin: The Downfall,” Beevor examines in detail the mass sexual violence committed by Soviet troops against German women. His estimate of roughly 3.5 million victims is one of the most frequently cited, though it remains a subject of debate among historians.
