Igor Danilevsky
Igor Nikolaevich Danilevsky is a Russian historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (Moscow). He is one of the leading contemporary specialists in the history of Rus’.
Danilevsky pays particular attention in his research to the “Tale of Bygone Years,” the most important chronicle compilation of early Rus’. His textual and source-critical analysis of this work is regarded as one of the most thorough in contemporary medieval studies.
He is the author of about 15 books on the history of Rus’. He is also known as a popularizer of history — his public lectures and talks attract a wide audience thanks to their combination of scholarly depth with accessibility.
