An arranged debate-interview by the channel’s author with the Russian “public activist” Alexander Novikov. A sensitive format: the interlocutor is a Russian propagandist, so the article takes only the author’s clean, verified theses, without giving the opponent any apologetics. Among them is the precise wording of the document: in the autumn of 1930 a resolution was issued on the pace of collectivization in which Ukraine was prescribed “to take one of the first places”, and the Ukrainian countryside was to go through collectivization by 1933. The remaining theses (man-made vs natural famine, starving out rather than export, the Kazakhstan parallel) coincide with claims already covered in the topic.

Key moments

  1. 06:09 The Holodomor — a man-made famine (1932/33) versus a natural one (1946/47)
  2. 07:45 The uprising of Ukrainian peasants against collectivization; "Dizzy with Success" 1930
  3. 08:38 The resolution on the pace of collectivization: Ukraine was "to take one of the first places"
  4. 10:36 Grain was seized not for export but to starve people out and forestall an uprising
